Description
This course examines computer hardware and the control of external components from an engineering perspective. The course introduces students to computer systems, networking, and interfacing, as well as electronics and robotics. Students will assemble, repair, and configure computers with various types of operating systems and application software. Students will build small electronic circuits and write computer programs to control simple peripheral devices or robots. Students will also develop an awareness of related environmental and societal issues, and will learn about secondary and postsecondary pathways and career opportunities in computer technology. This course is designated as open and can be taken by all students who wish to learn about Computer Technology. Students who wish to continue study in this area can take the Workplace or University/College courses in Grades 11 and 12 that lead to post-secondary courses or entry into the workplace.
